At our pharmacies across Liverpool, we offer quick, accurate blood pressure checks without the need for a GP appointment. We also provide 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM), where you wear a monitor throughout your normal daily routine and your results are reviewed and sent directly to your GP.
Why blood pressure matters
Blood pressure is a measure of the force your heart uses to pump blood around your body. When this pressure is consistently too high, a condition known as hypertension, it puts extra strain on your heart, arteries and organs.

In-store blood pressure checks
The test takes just a few minutes and involves a cuff placed around your upper arm that measures the pressure of blood in your arteries. Your pharmacist will explain your results clearly and advise on the most appropriate next steps, which may include:

This method is widely regarded as the gold standard for diagnosing hypertension and is recommended for confirming high blood pressure before treatment decisions are made.
24-Hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM)
A single blood pressure reading doesn’t always tell the full story. Readings taken in a clinical setting can sometimes be higher than usual due to anxiety and a one-off measurement may not accurately reflect your typical blood pressure.
Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring provides a much more complete picture. You’ll be fitted with a small, lightweight monitor that takes automatic readings at regular intervals over a full 24-hour period, whilst you go about your normal day.

Once your 24-hour monitoring period is complet, we will compile a full results report and send it directly to your GP practice.
